Gecekondu Mahallelerinde Yaşayan Çocuklarda Solunum ve Astım Semptom Kontrolü ile İlişkili Faktörler

Amaç: Bu araştırma, gecekondu mahallelerinde yaşayan çocuklarda solunum ve astım semptom kontrolünü ve ilişkili sosyoekonomik ile çevresel faktörleri değerlendirmek amacıyla yapılmıştır.
Gereç ve Yöntem: Kesitsel ve tanımlayıcı bu çalışma, hava kirliliğinin yüksek olduğu bir ilde gecekondu mahallelerinde yaşayan 47 çocuk ve ebeveyniyle yürütüldü. Veriler, sosyodemografik ve çevresel özellikler formu ile Çocuklar İçin Solunum ve Astım Kontrol Testi (ÇİSAKT) kullanılarak yüz yüze toplandı. Verilerin analizinde tanımlayıcı istatistikler ile Mann-Whitney U ve Kruskal–Wallis testleri kullanılmış, anlamlılık düzeyi p<0.05 olarak kabul edilmiştir.
Bulgular: Çocukların yaş ortalaması 3.34±3.70 yıl olup %55.3’ü erkekti. Ortalama ÇİSAKT puanı 62.12±20.52 idi. Baba eğitim düzeyi (p=0.01), iç ortamda sigara kullanımı (p=0.03) ve son solunum yolu enfeksiyonu zamanı (p<0.001) ile ÇİSAKT puanları arasında anlamlı ilişki saptandı. Isınma yöntemi ve aylık hane geliri ile ÇİSAKT puanları arasında anlamlı fark bulunmadı (p>0.05).
Sonuç: Gecekondu mahallelerinde yaşayan çocuklarda solunum ve astım semptom kontrolü; iç ortamda sigara kullanımı ve yakın dönemde geçirilen solunum yolu enfeksiyonlarından etkilenmektedir. Bulgular, pasif sigara dumanının azaltılması, enfeksiyonların önlenmesi ve sağlıklı yaşam ortamlarının oluşturulmasının önemini göstermektedir.
