Abstract

Objective: Many methods are used in the surgical treatment of hemorrhoidal disease in today's World. The purpose of this study; The aim of this study is to examine prolidase, MDA, catalase and  GSH parameters among 30 patients between the ages of 18-65 diagnosed with hemorrhoids and a group of 30 healthy volunteers between the ages of 18-65, and to investigate the relationship between the two groups.

Materials and methods: In this study, two groups were formed: a patient group of 30 individuals aged 18-65 with grade 1 internal hemorrhoids and no other diseases, and a healthy control group of 30 individuals aged 18-65 without any disease. The activities of the parameters were measured spectrophotometrically in this study.

Results: The difference between the mean values of the patient and control groups was found to be statistically significant (p<0.05). Accordingly, GSH and CAT were low, while prolidase and MDA were high in the patient group.

Conclusion: Based on these data, it can be concluded that oxidative stress negatively affects hemorrhoid disease and that antioxidants may have a positive effect in the treatment of hemorrhoid disease.
